Prescott College Students Visit PFFS 4/24

On Thursday morning 4/24 professors Anita Fernandez (Director of the Prescott College ‘Tucson Center‘ and parent of PFFS 7th grader) and Sean Arce (Director of the TUSD’ ‘Mexican American Studies Department’ before it was shut down in 2012) brought the entire Prescott College ‘Social Justice Education Semester’ student cohort to Paulo Freire Freedom School – University to observe our learning community and learn about our educational philosophy and methodology.  The college students visited the the 6/7 Humanities and Science classes and then participated in a Q/A session with the PFFS co-director Santo Nicotera.  Sean Arce, who was the recipient of Zinn Education Project’s ‘Myles Horton Education Award‘ for his work with MAS, spoke with our 8th graders about the program and its demise which they had learned about as part of a recent unit on the Civil Rights Movement.
