City High School is hosting a group of intrepid time travelers and novelists on Labor Day Weekend (9/5-7), all of whom will be working on the next great novel [or any writing project that needs a little boost!]. We will select one official winner from the City High School/Paulo Freire Freedom School community to submit to the contest but students do not need to complete an entry to participate in this crazy event. Students can work on poetry, a short story, or a school assignment – basically any creative writing endeavor.
Here are the details:
- City High School will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday of Labor Day Weekend (9/5-7). Students will be provided access to a laptop, one or two classrooms, and all the common areas in the school. There will be at least one staff member on site at all times during those hours.
- Coffee and tea, as well as some snack foods will also be provided, though participants should bring their own lunch and dinner.
- PFFS students will not be permitted to leave the premises without a parent/guardian. Participants are not required to stay for the entire time, but it is recommended that commit to coming for a substantial amount of time.
