This week our Az Merit Testing is off to a good start and will continue for a few more days in the next few weeks (each schools schedules have been emailed home).
We believe they are well prepared for the tests and just ask that you work with them to make sure they get plenty of sleep and eat a good breakfast. We can’t stress enough the importance of at least a solid 8 hours of sleep. The research on the impact of poor sleep is uncontroverted, and we want to make sure that we create the best conditions possibly for our students’ success.
AzMERIT, the statewide test required of all public schools, is an important indicator of student performance on state standards for reading, writing and math. PFFS also values other assessments, such as performances, exhibitions, and projects to provide a complete picture of what a student knows. Next week, for example, our students will be showcasing their learning to a public audience at the Pennington Street Showcase.
