New Staff at PFFS-D

At Paulo Freire Downtown we have two new staff members who already feel like family.  They are wonderful additions and we are so glad to have them!

Celina Casillas will be the PFFS-Downtown Student Support Services Teacher.  She graduated from the UofA with a Bachelor’s degree of Psychology and a minor in Sociology. While attending college, she helped direct an afterschool program for teenagers from low-income families.   Celina has a behavioral health background first working at La Frontera facilitating various therapeutic groups for children ages 5 up to 17 years old, and later working at the Geriatric Psychiatric unit at St. Mary’s hospital.  She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree of Education in Special Education through Grand Canyon University.

Misa Gonzales will be part of the 6/7th LIC team and will teach 6/7th grade English Language Arts.  She graduated from the UofA with a degree in Education.  She is an experienced English teacher having taught in several local high schools.  She specializes in technology integration and in 2013 was given the ConnectED Champion of Change awarded by President Obama.  Prior to teach ELA, Misa was an arts and craft instructor and she is excited to incorporate both technology and the arts into her classroom.  Misa is a parent of both a PFFS and CHS student.
