Keeping Bicycles Safe

At the Paulo Freire Freedom Schools, we encourage students, staff, and visitors to arrive on their bikes.  Biking to school is great exercise, and it is great for the environment.  However, we have had bicycles stolen from out front of each campus over the past few years.  With students returning to the U of A this week, it is a particularly vulnerable time for bikes, even those that are locked up in public places.  Most bike thieves take advantage of cheap, thin bike locks which are easy to cut through.  We encourage all bicycle riders to lock up their bike with a sturdy u-lock.  If you need any assistance finding a u-lock for your bike, please contact the school and we will assist you.
