At PFFSU on Tuesday, Nov. 13th, from 5:00 – 7:00, we will provide free pizza, salad, and drinks to families. After we all eat together, there will be a workshop for students and a separate workshop for parents. Then, we’ll all come back together for a facilitated discussion about how to talk about underage drinking. The evening will cover how alcohol affects the developing body and brain, effective communication strategies and tips for talking with your child, and how to respond to and handle those tough questions that may come up.
During middle school, students start to ask more challenging questions of their parents. We have found that having important, even if they are difficult, conversations with kids before they become teenagers creates more opportunities to build trust. While these workshops will cover the risks of underage drinking, they will also focus on how to have successful conversations with your child that build openness and trust and lead to safer, more well-informed choices as students get older.
Please RSVP to Chad so we order the proper amount of food.
