Seventh grade is on expedition to
Ft Lowell Park on Friday, Dec. 2nd.
We will be visiting the museum there, as well as the replica of the old Fort. The museum and the Fort structures were both built in the
late 1800s,
which is the time period 7th graders are learning about in Humanities. We will be particularly looking at targeted wars with the Native American nations in this region and considering the historical implications for us today. At a time when US relations with the Standing Rock Nation as well as indigenous folks around the world is in the spotlight, we think it is especially important for students to explore historical roots of how the US colonized and conquered these regions and what that means for Native Americans today.
Parents: It will be a bit chilly
on Friday–in the high 40s and low 50s. Please make sure your kiddo has warm layers and brings a lunch, snacks and water bottle.
Please let us know if you are able to help drive! Either call the school at 624-7552 to let us know or email Ariane at
amohr-felsen@paulofreireschool.org.
We will leave here at about 9:30 AM and be back around 12:30 PM.
