On October 17th, eighth graders will be going to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. While there we will be learning about what role the military plays within the government structure (they have been studying the government and founding fathers in Humanities) as well as within Tucson. We will also be visiting the Leadership Corps and speaking with men and women about what leadership qualities they display within the Air Force.
We need drivers for this expedition. Additionally, the base needs a list of driver names along with social security numbers a week in advance, so they can run a background check on anyone driving and make sure they are cleared to come on base.
Please let Ariane know if you are able to drive, and if you have any personal experiences in the military you would like to share. It should be a fun expedition, and give lots of fuel for discussion later on, about what role the military plays in our lives and what personal opinions the students might form.
If you could respond to Ariane directly, that would be great! Her email address is amohr-felsen@paulofreire.wpengine.com.
