The culminating project of the PFFS-U 8th grade Humanities unit on civil rights is a prison reform presentation. The student presentations will happen on Monday, September 26th, at 5:00 pm at the University campus. You are invited to be a member of the audience and learn about why prison populations have increased greatly over the past thirty years, why this is a civil rights issue, and what our students propose to improve the system.
This Prison Reform Project is another rigorous, authentic project created by our smart and dedicated Humanities team, Mallory and Gaby. Authentic projects give the students agency, are about real issues, and offer the students a chance to make a difference. Students engage more deeply with their learning when their project is meaningful and authentic.
