On May 2nd & 3rd, CITY Center for Collaborative Learning will conduct the ‘Student Portfolio Residency Workshop’ – an immersion into the ‘graduation by exhibition’ process at CITY Center’s three school demonstration sites: Paulo Freire Freedom School – Downtown, Paulo Freire Freedom School – University, and City High School.
Workshop participants will learn about and understand deeply the multi-year exhibition process that culminates in a final Portfolio Exhibition at the end of 8th grade and Gateway Exhibition at the end of 12th grade. May 3rd will include both 8th grade and 12th grade exhibitions at all three sites. May 2nd will include only 12th grade exhibitions at City High School. Workshop participants may register for one or both days.
The ‘Student Portfolio Residency Workshop’ is held during the PFFS 8th grade and CHS 12th grade final ‘Demonstrations of Learning’ so that workshop participants can learn about the exhibition process through observation and participation in actual 8th grade and 12th grade final exhibitions, as well as, through conversation with the PFFS & CHS teachers (and the schools’ founders), and through examination & collegial discussion of materials/texts used to support the students, parents, & teachers in the exhibition process.
