Misa Gonzales

Misa Gonzales has joined Paulo Freire Freedom School – Downtown as a humanities teacher working with the 6th/7th grade team.  She brings  to her position over 15 years of classroom experience, with prior teaching roles in the Sunnyside and Tucson Unified school districts.  Gonzales was honored as a ‘Champion of Change’ by the Obama administration in 2013, and had the opportunity to visit the White House and meet the President.  Gonzales received a Bachelors of Education from the University of Arizona.

Misa Gonzales is also starting the Principal Apprenticeship pilot program at PFFS-D. Misa has been teaching English and Language Arts at Paulo Freire Freedom School – Downtown since 2017. Misa has served on the Teaching and Learning Committee, as a Critical Friends Group coach, and as a CBL and Empower specialist. Misa embodies what it means to be a teacher leader in our organization, and she is excited to take on this new level of leadership.
